Cutting things loose

For some reason - and this post is written in PRINCE purple because I was just listening to "Private Joy" over and over - I have suddenly found it infinitely easier to part with things from my past lately. I have recently sold on ebay many items which I had zealously saved since my teenage years...things which I used to think I would take to the grave.

Not so much, apparently.

1956 Detroit Lions schedule pencil - sold for 14.00

Red Wings puck that I caught after a deflected shot from Trevor Linden of the Canucks(before the put the netting behind the goals in response to that girl who died in Columbus) - sold for 19.99

World Times Zones brass clock from the 1950's which I bought at an estate sale for 2 bucks - sold for 167.00!!!!

My old Iron Maiden/Saxon/Motorhead/Genesis/Van Halen buttons - sold for 22.00

Rare Dead Can Dance CD sampler - sold for 15.50

And a bunch of other stuff...just letting it all go...maybe making my "things" lighter is a part of wanting to make ME lighter. And I am, it's just going too slowly for my liking.

I've finally begun selling off the posters I saved since 1990(when I started working in music retail). There are thousands and thousands...I keep unearthing really cool stuff that I have to fight the urge to save and frame...and so far they've been damn lucrative. I'm less than 10% through them...maybe less than 5%...and already had some great successes:

Framed, autographed CURE poster sold for 250.00
Misfits promo posters for 12 HITS FROM HELL, the CD which got pulled right before it was released - sold 4 of them for a combined 145.00

and on and on... Pretty soon I'll be selling the Tori Amos posters I saved. I wonder if people still collect her stuff...I'm thinking yes.

Here comes the rain again. Seems like every day this week, yes??

Be well, any of you who still stop by my blog. Oh, I am on facebook as Glen Edwin if any of you want to add me. I love the songs and videos that you can put on your page...were I more talented I could have done that here.
